Tasting Note The nose displays intense red and black fruit aromas, which are complemented by dried herbs and floral notes. It is medium-bodied with smooth, fine tannins and a bright acidity. The finish is long and spicy.
Who?
One of the world’s great winemakers, John Duval was given the ‘Grange’ torch by Max Schubert, the man who created Australia’s most famous wine. John passed it on to his successor when he left Penfolds in 2003 to start his own label.
Why?
We just love the fact that John sources all his fruit from long-time friends in the Barossa, all of whom own vineyards with vines aged from 50 to 100 years old ensuring wonderful concentration. He makes his wines with minimal intervention and they always showcase the best of the Barossa.
With?
Because of the wonderful concentration of the Plexus we suggest it be with rich flavours. We love it side by side with rich, warming, winter stews along with red or white meat marinated with Asian flavours such as Teriyaki, Plum or Honey Soy. Alternatively you could just go balls out Ozzie, crank up the Barbie and grill a shit tonne of Meat of all descriptions. Happy Days!!
