Tasting Note Aromas of ripe black fruits combine with a touch of oak on the nose. The palate is light-medium bodied, with flavours of red fruit, spice and Mediterranean herbs. It is well structured with smooth tannins and a balanced acidity.
Who?
The current winemaker, Ido Lewinsohn, was appointed in 2016. Ido studied winemaking at the University of Milan, and has worked at the eponymous Tuscan estate, Sassicaia along with in wineries in the Rhône and in Australia.
Why?
Alberto Antonini, one of Italy’s most talented and famous wine makers started consulting at Segal in 2017, supporting winemaker Ido Lewinsohn. They have since developed a great relationship and the strength of their partnership has resulted in a dramatic improvement in the quality of the wines in the past few years.
With?
The Argaman grape is a cross of Souzao and Carignan and many people compare it’s deep colour yet juicy drinkability to Malbec so the obvious pairing for us is roasted or barbecued red meats with the smoky characters of the meat perfectly offset by the wines’ dark deep fruit content and flavour profile.
