Who?

The Domaine has seven hectares of vineyard on the Côte du Py in Morgon, making the Burgaud family the biggest owner of vines on this famous hill. Jean -Marc is originally from Lantignié and his wife, Christine, is from Morgon, the 11.5 hectares in Morgon were inherited from her side of the family. “My father used to tell me that Lantignié produced the best Beaujolais, but when I first met Christine, her father opened a 20-plus-year-old bottle of Côte du Py for me and that opened my eyes to the potential of Beaujolais” he explains. Today, the Domaine has 18 hectares of vineyards across Beaujolais Villages, Morgon and Régnié.

Why?

Jean-Marc Burgaud was recently dubbed ‘Monsieur Côte du Py’ by Bourgogne Aujourd’hui magazine. If that’s not a good enough reason for us to list multiple wines from Jean-Marc then the fact that each and every one of his Cru wines displays wonderful regional typicity and exceptional value for money when you take into account the extremely high quality of the wines.

With?

The supple mouthfeel and inherent freshness of the above wine makes it the perfect bottle to pair with a variety of cured meats all year round. In saying that, our favourite way to utilise this lovely drop would be to chill it when the weather permits, crank up the BBQ and serve with a selection of grilled delights. The wine then inherits the very apt title of ‘Barbecue Juice’.
