Who?

Jane first produced wines under this label in Australia in 2012, when she made three barrels of a Pinot from Mornington. In 2015, she finally had enough wine to export, so we jumped at what she had to offer. We have had great success with her wines from Burgundy since they arrived at the beginning of 2016. Their restraint and elegance chimes with the style of wine we are looking for. Australian journalist Nick Stock has said of Jane that she “is a thoughtful and determined winemaker, with clear ideas about the style of Pinot Noir she likes. She prizes fragrance and delicacy over artefact and ripeness…”

Why?

Jane Eyre’s wines remind you of where they come from, deftly crafted to show a balance of minerality, savoury tones, and purity of red fruit characters. As she is originally from Melbourne, Jane is able to secure incredible fruit from the Mornington Peninsula and uses this to produce a wine which has a wonderful sense of place. We are huge fans of Jane’s wines, because no matter where they’re from, they always speak volumes of the region.

With?

We like to accentuate the savoury complexity of the wine by pairing with earthier flavours such as the ubiquitous Burgundian dish of Coq au Vin. It would complement a selection of cured meats and cheese wonderfully well due to the inherent acidity found in the wine which would cut through the sweet fat of the meat and harmonise with the savoury elements perfectly. Mushroom based dishes would also pair with aplomb.
