Juice 2020 Cantina Terlan, Cuvée Terlaner, Trentino Alto-Adige, Italy
Grape 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Note On the nose green apple and white peach combine with nuances of lemon balm and mint. On the palate the peach is abundant with a lively yet rounded mouthfeel. This multifaceted, flavour derives from the interplay between freshness and minerality and is a hallmark of the ‘Cantina Terlan DNA’.
Founded in 1893, the Terlan winery is one of the leading winegrowers' co-operatives in South Tyrol (if not the world) today. It currently has 143 members, with a cultivation area of 190 hectares. Cantina Terlan have been following a strict quality course for many years, which has earned them an outstanding reputation and cult like following from wine nuts recognition from all over the world.
We just think everything that Cantina Terlan produces be it white or red, entry level or the special bottlings of their mature white wines is exceptional. The wines have such a wonderful sense of place; each glass speaks of where its origins lie. We love the fact that the wines can be enjoyed in their youth though when given time, they age remarkably well and the resulting wines can be absolutely stunning.
A traditional regional pairing is with raw white asparagus salad, also with South Tyrolean dishes like bacon dumplings or sausage with sauerkraut pair a treat. If you want to play it safe you could look to other Italian classics like simple tomato based pizza and pasta or Focaccia with rosemary. If you’re a fan of spice it will be an excellent foil to Penne all'arrabbiata and if you want to keep it simple why not try hard, salty cheeses like Parmesan or Pecorino.
