Tasting Note On the nose, there are elegant aromas of white flowers and white peach, pear, apricot and citrus. A full-bodied and juicy palate is dominated by ripe but delicate tropical fruits, a hint of salinity and a fresh clean finish with balanced acidity.
Alma Atlántica means 'Atlantic Soul' in English and is inspired by wines made in proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The two semi aromatic whites come from different regions, and the aim of Alma Atlántica is to create fresh and lively whites with lots of personality and boldness of flavour. The Alba Martin Albariño comes from the subzone of Val do Salnés in DO Rías Baixas (which means between two estuaries, the Ría de Arosa and Ría de Pontevedra). Val do Salnés is not only the oldest subregion, it is also the coolest and wettest zone for Albariño, situated right on the Atlantic Coast.
The mix of granite, slate and clay soils found in the vineyards ensure that this particular expression of Albariño has a lovely mineral component as well as breadth on the palate. Allowing the wine to undergo partial malolactic fermentation further emphasis the texture of the wine. The balance between elegance, texture and freshness is one of the main reasons why we love this wine.
Galicia is one of the culinary capitals of the world. It has a ridiculous array of produce at its doorstep and many dishes from here are synonymous with Spanish cuisine the world over. Classic regional pairings for Albariño are all based around seafood, from Mejillones al Vapor (Steamed Mussels) through to Pulpo a Feira (Galician Style Octopus) and everything in between. If it’s from the ocean then you pretty much can’t go wrong.
