Tasting Note This unoaked Beaujolais Blanc is expressive with notes of citrus and stone fruits on the nose. The palate is bright and lively with racy acidity giving this wine wonderful freshness.

Who?

Jean-Marc Burgaud was recently dubbed ‘Monsieur Côte du Py’ by Bourgogne Aujourd’hui magazine. His Domaine has seven hectares of vineyard on the Côte du Py in Morgon, making the Burgaud family the biggest owner of vines on this famous hill. Jean -Marc is originally from Lantignié and his wife, Christine, is from Morgon, the 11.5 hectares in Morgon were inherited from her side of the family. “My father used to tell me that Lantignié produced the best Beaujolais, but when I first met Christine, her father opened a 20-plus-year-old bottle of Côte du Py for me and that opened my eyes to the potential of Beaujolais,” he explains. Today, the Domaine has 18 hectares of vineyards across Beaujolais Villages, Morgon and Régnié.

Why?

We just love the range of wines from Jean-Marc Burgaud and his Bojo Blanc is no exception. The scarcity, of Beaujolais Blanc (only 1% of total Beaujolais production) makes it an even more interesting proposition. It has a Chablisesque character about it though it has its own personality displaying an excellent grippy texture a ripeness of fruit that talks of the south of Burgundy (and beyond).

With?

White meat and all things seafood would be the way to go pairing wise with this delightful drop. The aforementioned texture would happily hold up against whole roasted fish such as sea bream or bass, served simply spinach sautéed with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. Regarding white meat, we’d serve Poached Chicken breast with a white wine and cream sauce garnished with fresh herbs and a side of green beans.
