Tasting Note The nose displays ripe citrus, lime zest, yellow fruits and flowers. The palate is refined yet round, very well balanced and shows true to the nose on the wonderfully long finish.
Jochen Dreissigacker has caused a considerable stir both in his native Germany and abroad, winning high praise and points wherever his wines are sold. His 21 hectares of vineyards are based in the Rheinhessen, which is currently undergoing what might be termed a 'Rheinhessen revival', with Jochen at its forefront. From the 2010 vintage, Jochen's wines all have organic certification and he also uses biodynamic methods for much of his estate (although he has chosen not to be certified).
The approach to Dreissigacker wines is simple – as little intervention as possible with low yields and careful fruit selection. All vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic methods are often used, resulting in excellent fruit quality, hence beautiful balance. We are simple too, is it too much to ask for delicious juice with beautiful balance? We don’t think so and neither does Jochen. That’s why we love him and his wines.
Nothing. Simple. Like Jochen’s mandate. All jokes aside, this is just a bloody great wine which can be easily enjoyed naked and alone. If you do want to head down the pairing path then we suggest clean flavours such as sashimi, sushi and ceviche, actually pretty much anything raw and from the ocean. If you like a bit of heat in your life it will pair with spice like peanut butter pears with jelly and if you want to keep it German just strap on your lederhosen, crack out the sauerkraut and fry yourself a Schnitzel of the porkenheimen variety. Das ist sehr gut!!
