What?
Juice 2019 Ventoux Rouge, Famille Perrin, Rhône Valley, FRA
Grape 46% Grenache/Garnacha, 19% Cinsault, 14% Syrah/Shiraz
Farming Vegan
Tasting Note The nose is enticing with notes of red fruit and morello cherries. The palate has refreshing acidity and is well-balanced with juicy fruit flavours and soft, plush tannins.
Who?
Famille Perrin is one of the most recognisable names in the Southern Rhône. The fifth and sixth generations of the family now manage the extensive vineyard holdings and grower partnerships which stretch across the region, from Vinsobres to the Ventoux.
Why?
The Perrin Family are Southern Rhone wine making royalty. Every wine in their range showcases excellent varietal typicity regardless of the price. The Ventoux is their ‘entry level’ offering and, as is the case for the rest of the range, has wonderful balance and a real sense of place.
With?
The sheer drinkability of this wine makes it an absolute pleasure to pair food. We’d be inclined to go into the deli selection and order up a mixed platter of Charcuterie, Bish Bash Bosh, Bob’s your uncle, Robert’s your father’s brother and you’re away. If you want to get a little bit carried away then why not prepare the regional specialty of Provençal stuffed Tomatoes, Courgettes and or Peppers. The fruit purity offers a counter to the savour deliciousness of the veggies. If you like Bunny’s (we do!) then a cheeky Rabbit and mushroom stew with a red wine sauce? (low a slow is the key with Rabbit or it will come out chewy as an old boot).
